Tiefa Coal Industry Group Corporation Limited (Tiemei Group)
is located in the northern region of Liaoning Province, and about
37 km away from Tieling City in the east and about 90 km away
from Shenyang municipality in the south, and in the vicinity of
Shenyang-Ha'erbin Expressway. So it enjoys a very convenient communication
access. Covering gross coal-bearing area of 618.43 square kilometers,
the mining area is composed of Tiefa, Kangping and Kangbei coalfields,
with the demonstrated coal reserves of 22.59 billion tons, accounting
for 1/3 of the total coal reserves of Liaoning Province. Ranks
of coal are mainly classified as long flame coal. The coal is
characterized by low sulphur content and low phosphorus, and is
high quality fuel coal for industry. And the demonstrated coal
bed methane reserves in this mining area are 29.3 billion cubic
meters.
The construction of Tiefa coal mining area started in 1958.
The designed annual production capacity of Tiemei Group totals
14.44 million tons of coal, and total annual processing capacity
is also 11.65 million tons. Now there are 8 active mines and 1
mine under construction, and 27 subsidiary companies and branch
companies affiliated to Tiemei Group with 45,000 staff and miners
employed at their work posts and 22,000 staff and workers of collective
ownership. The total capital assets of Tiemei Group value at 75.6
billion RMB yuan. Tiemei Group has contributed the profits valued
at more than 30 million RMB yuan for 6 years running since 1996,
and earned 68.26 million RMB yuan of the profits in 2001. Overall
productive efficiency was 7.11 tons of raw coal per man and per
unit area yield topped 15 tons of raw coal. There was absolutely
no serious accident, such as gas and coal dust explosion occurred
in all the mines. Fatality rate per million tons of coal produced
by Tiemei Group dropped below 0.5 man for 7 years in succession.
Tiemei Group was awarded the tittle of "Ten red-flag enterprise
in the industrial enterprise management in the whole province"
by Liaoning Province in 1997, and has the honour to win the "Golden
Stone" prize in China's coal industry in 1994 and 1997. And
it was named a standardized coal mining administration by the
former Ministry of Coal Industry in 1994, and awarded the tittle
of outstanding enterprise of China's coal industry by the former
Ministry of Coal Industry in 1994 and 1997. Furthermore, Tiemei
Group has won the national "May First" labor medal in
1995 and 1998. What is more, Tiemei Group was elected ten-best
enterprise in scientific and technological advancement in China's
coal industry for 6 years in succession since 1996. The degree
of enterprise prestige is classified as AAA. Tiemei Group has
passed the authentication of ISO9002 quality management system
in December 1999.
Being geared to the needs of future, Tiemei Group will further
carry out a sustainable development strategy for centering attention
on coal production and promoting diversified economy in coal industry.
Tiemei Group also will put into effect on the promotion of diversified
development, and make great efforts to from the bases of coal
bed methane development and utilization and new building materials
while building the largest base of fuel coal production in northeast
China. To integrate with coal production, electric power, coal
bed methane development and utilization, building materials, new
and high technology, mechanical treatment, and construction and
erection, Tiemei Group will become a large state holding multiple-producing
coal enterprise group of trans-regional, trans-industry and trans-ownership
system operations of more competitive power. As a result, it could
